Hue Festival to be held next April


The Hue Festival 2012 will be held next April in the central province of Thua Thien Hue.

Under the theme ‘Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development- Rendezvous of Historical Cities’, the festival, the seventh of its kind, will be a spotlight of the National Tourism Year 2012, which will also be hosted by the province.

Plants and food on menu at Hue craft affai


Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2011 themed “Vietnamese kitchen in Hue ornamental garden,” to promote Vietnamese culture will be held from April 30 to May 3.

The festival will take place in the three venues of Ngo Mon Square, Dai Noi Imperial Citadel and Huong Riverside in Hue City and is split into the two parts of traditional food and ornamental plants.

Vietnam to hold the first International Tea Festival


Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ministry of Information and Communications cooperated with the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen Province to hold a press conference to announce the content of the first International Tea Festival - Thai Nguyen 2011. 

Nippon Genki Festival in Vietnam 2011


The Cherry-blossom or Nippon Genki Festival 2011, organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, will take place at the Vietnam Exhibition and Fair Center on April 16-17.

Starting in 2007, the annual cherry-blossom festival attracts many people who love cherry flowers and Japanese culture. This year’s festival is the 4th of its kind and aims to bring Japanese culture closer to Vietnamese and lead up to the 40thanniversary of relationship between the two countries (1973-2013).

HCMC to hold Lunar New Year Festival


The HCMC People's Committee has assigned local tour company Saigontourist Holding Company and other administrative agencies to organise the Tet Tan Mao (Lunar New Year of the Cat) Festival in the city's downtown.

Since the first time it was held in 2004, Tet Giap Than (Lunar New Year of the Monkey), the Nguyen Hue Flower Street and the related Banh Tet (cylindrical glutinous rice cake) Festival has been a hit with residents and tourists in HCMC.

Flowers, drinks fest planned for Tet


A festival of Spring Flowers and Drinks will be organised on January 25 to celebrate Tet (the Lunar New Year). The festival will be held in Hanoi's Vietnam Culture and Arts Exhibition Centre.

It will introduce traditional customs and feature arts performances and games for visitors such as the traditional long dress show, calligraphy exhibition and a photo exhibition of lotus flowers, the top candidate for the title Vietnam National Flower.

Ethnology museum celebrates Tet with diverse programme


The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology will hold its annual Tet (Lunar New Year) celebrations on February 6-8, with music, food and games – and the participation of 90 representatives from six ethnic groups from around the country.

The Raglai from the central province of Ninh Thuan and the Dao Lo Gang and Na Mieo from the northern province of Lang Son will be participating in the holiday programme for the first time.
